Summarise the steps involved in planning, executing and delivering on this brief.
When Planning a game, steps that must be completed are, Planning, Getting ideas, Concept art, Playboards, Level design, Mechanics, basically getting the game completely designed. The executing stage is where the game is made, steps that are completed are Modeling, for both characters and levels, sound design, texturing, basically the created of the actual game. When delivering a game, advertising is the main part, how the game will be seen and publicised, depending on the target market this will vary, if it were teens social media would be the main place to advertise.
Clarify the difference between pre-production and post-production from a client’s perspective.
Pre Production is the stage where you plan your game and get ideas, whereas Post Production is the stage where finishing touches and changes are added, feedback from testers are obtained to make the game better.
Describe the sources you would you use to create the imagined world.
I would look at other fantasy style games and look at the adverts that were created for those, and study how the story was portrayed and how I could possibly use some aspects from it to make my advert that bit more interesting. I would also look at reviews for other fantasy games and see what parts they liked the most and maybe make that a big focus on the advert for my game.
Outline ethical, regulatory or legal considerations you need to take into account when creating the advert.
Ethical Considerations you need to take into consideration when advertising is if the game features any violence, alcohol, or drug use, because if it does, it shouldn't be shown to people of younger ages, but if you do, you shouldn't include the 18+ elements in the advert. Legal considerations when making a game is that you need to make sure you don't have any copywritten content in your game or you can get get sued. Also games must be rated to make it obvious to customers who the target market is.
Explain how you will communicate your story concept for approval and what story telling concepts you would employ.
A voice over of maybe a narrator or the main character could play over the advert to give views an idea of what they could be in for if they get the game. Another way the story could be shown is perhaps an intense opening scene of the advert that tells you what the majority of the game will be about, maybe a death.
Describe how diegetic and non diegetic sounds are used on screen and off screen to support story telling.
Non diagetic sounds are used a lot to support story telling for example, Music, if you were entering an intense are or a boss fight, the music might speed up or add extra instruments to add effect and a sense of danger and intensity, also Diagetic sounds like objects impacting the ground or hitting people are normally short sounds but load, without them fighting in game wouldn't be as dramatic.
Describe the job roles required to produce the advert. Summarise their responsibilities and the different software they may use.
To create an advert, you will need video editors to put everything together, the clips, the music, text, etc. Also you might need Music producers to create a track to make the advert more intense and dramatic to entice viewers to pay attention to it. Potentially a director to summarise the story of the game and compact it down so the editor can get the correct clips. Publishers, to get the advert out to the public and actually be seen.
