Diagetic - Sounds that are real and can be seen (Talking, Walking, Machinery)

Non-Diagetic - Sounds that can't be seen or aren't real (Music, Blasters, Monsters)

Simon Stalenhag

He is a Swedish artist who was born in 1984. His work includes a lot of giant mechanical vehicles and robotics, when looking through his work this one is the one that I liked the most:

The mood of the image above seems very eerie because there is a giant broken down robot that's built to look like a cat, yet there is a singular police car, and all the cars nearby seem to be unbothered by it.

The overall color of the image is dark and moody, but the only small use of color is the robot, as its the main attraction of the image, everything else is dark and grey. The Viewers eyes will head straight to the Robotic cat or the slightly lighter green area beneath it and then, upwards.

The art style of his work is very retro futuristic because most of the settings his work is based in are normal landscapes, yet he includes massive unnatural buildings, robotics and landmarks, which are mainly metallic looking, and seem as though they've been taken from the future.

Here are some sounds that may be found within this picture:

Diagetic- Police siren, Fire burning, Car's driving, Squeaking metallics, car horns.

Non-Diagetic - Creepy robotic cat sounds, slow/faint sad music.

Ralph McQuarrie

was an American conceptual designer and illustrator. His career included work on the original Star Wars Trilogy, the original Battlestar Galactica television series, the film E.T, and the film Cocoon, for which he won an Academy Award.

The mood of this image seems very lively and intense, as you can see that there is an ongoing attack as there seems to be an explosion and people are running away, people are getting ready to fight, no one is relaxing or chilling everyone is on their feet and trying to survive, while some are getting ready to fight back. The genre of his work is very futuristic fantasy, because lots of advanced ships and weaponry and troopers are found in lots of his work.

I really like the colors used in this image, there is just the right amount of light and dark colors, also what I have seen with a lot of Ralph's work, he likes to use bright yellows and oranges. Although the characters and vehicles are dull and dark, the Massive orange sun and few orange lights seen really liven up the picture and really make it aesthetically pleasing to the viewers. Also because the planet is so large and bright, that is essentially where most peoples eyes head to first, and will see the troopers running on the right of the screen, the the blue explosion, and then toward the darker orange area under the ship.

Ralph was the concept artist creator for the star wars films and this picture I have chosen is one of them. the style of his work is very futuristic fantasy feeling because his work is mainly star wars related and include massive planets and spaceships.

Here are some sounds that may be used within this image:

Diagetic- Running, Engines running, Mechanical sounds, breaking of the floor.

Non-Diagetic- Blaster sounds, Intense music, fururistic spaceships.
